These woodcarvings are by Bruce Alexander. He hand carves these for people who want them. He has some really nice work, and I love that he does this for a living. he makes a lot of personal requests. He specializes in outdoor scenes and wildlife.

CD Artwork.

This one is obvious, it's the Avenged Sevenfold Clown Of Evil album. I read that the lead singer has a HORRIBLE clown phobia, and most of the songs in this album follows the lines of this.

Do you ever just browse the CD shelves at Target, or Best Buy, or even walmart, looking for some really cool covers? I do. Alllll the time. Some are really interesting, and fun to look at. I've  done some research on these here   covers, to find out what they're about.
This one here is about the Green Day album 21st Century Breakdown. This entire album is essentially about how the modern world is so screwed up that there isn't much good left in the world, except the love between Christian and Gloria, the two characters on the Album.
"I wanted the art work to look really different. I wanted it to represent the East Bay and where we come from, because there's a lot of artists in the East Bay scene that are just as important as the music. So we talked to Richie Bucher. He did a 7-inch cover for this band called Raooul that I really liked. He's also been playing in bands in the East Bay for years. There's pieces of us buried on the album cover. There's one guy with his camera up in the air taking a picture with a beard. He took pictures of bands every weekend at Gilmans. The robed character that looks like the Mona Lisa is the woman on the cover of the first Black Sabbath ALbum. Angus Young is in there somewhere too. The graffiti reading "Twisted Dog Sisters" refers to these two girls from Berkeley. I think the guy saying "The fritter, fat boy" was a reference to a local cop." -Billie Joe Armstrong.

The single's cover artwork, by Marvel Zombies artist Arthur Soydum, is based on the band's "Crimson Ghost" skull logo. Both the cover art and the single's two songs, "Land of the Dead" and "Twilight of the Dead", are a homage to the Living Dead series. "Land of the Dead" is named after Romero's 2005 film of the same name,  for which Twilight of the Dead was a working title. "Land of the Dead" and "Twilight of the Dead" are the third and fourth Misfits songs to be titled after Romero's Living Deadfilms: Previous Misfits lineups had recorded "Night of the Living Dead" (1979).

This album is called "Reinventing Axl Rose, by Against Me!. The artwork is kind of obvious, it's the singer Axl Rose, lead singer and guitarist in Guns N' Roses.

Thanksgiving!

Happy thanksgiving everyone!! I hope you guys have a good Thanksgiving. Today I've decided to have a thanksgivingy blog. Anyways, I've been doing some thanks related research, and I've come to the conclusion that the most fun thing to do for thanksgiving is make paper turkeys!!! It's really a lot of fun! All you really need is some fall colored construction paper, and some creativity! Children love to do this, and parents can really get into it also!

Personal Interest

Well, it took me forever to figure out what to blog about this time. I sat and sat...and I thought to myself, what am I actually interested in artistically? I couldn't think of a single thing. And, then my friend was like, "Well, what do you consider art? Does it have to be visual? I mean, we all know how interested you are in music. I consider music an art form." That comment here really made me think. Yes. Music is DEFINITELY an art form. So. I found my blog content[: Music. Well. Guitars in particular. I love, love, love guitars. They are so beautiful, in every way possible. I would love to play. I do...kind of. Haha. I don't even know how to explain why I love them so much. I have many dream guitars...like Fenders, and Gibsons....Strats.
Both of these guitars are from Billie Joe Armstrong, my hero from the band Green Day. Billie Joe writes almost all of his own music, and what he doesn't write, he writes with his other band members. I am so inspired by his writing. In my artwork, and my writing. Just the guitar going through my head, and the beautiful voice of Billie Joe, with the bass pounding in the background, drums beating with my heart, and al the while images are flashing through my mind, and words going through my head, and I just have to have a pen or pencil, and my sketchbook, or a lined piece of paper, and let it all out.

A school I would NOT like to go to.

"Nossi College of Art is a small, private, professional college with a friendly atmosphere. We are dedicated to developing students into working professionals in the vast and exciting business of visual communications. Nossi College of Art is special because we train students in a unique combination of methods."

While this sounds promising, and happy, I'm not sure I would much enjoy this school. I've looked at the website and, even though it seems like an interesting enough school, I don't think I'd like it because it is a very small school with fewer than 1200 graduating students per year. I want to go to a large school, with many people. I don't know why. Maybe just because that's how I feel college should be. Maybe something else. Who knows?  Haha.  It is also a very private college, and you have to make really good grades to get into it, and to stay in there. My grades aren't nearly good enough, and I don't think I would be able to keep up with the curriculum that they have. Also, I'm honestly not all that interested in an art college. I mean, I love doing art and stuff, but I don't want a career in it. I really want to be a cop, so I don't think getting any kind of degree from this school would help me in traveling down that path. The school has many programs that you can get; such as graphic design, photography (Which I actually WOULD like to look further into), Illustration, and Photography and Video. It is located in Nashville Tennessee. I do not like it's location because I would not like to go to school in Tennessee. I'm not horrible fond of the state. I want to go to school in a different state. Perhaps Florida, or Alaska, maybe  even Illinois. I don't know, but where ever I DO go to school, I can tell you that it will definitely NOT be here.

Artists Analysis

This piece of artwork is only one of in a series of paintings, block prints, and other types of media in the new  gallery at the StolenSpace Gallery in  United Kingdom, in London.  This gallery is dedicated solely to the band Green Days newest album 21st Century Breakdown. This particular piece is called American Eulogy, and was done by Jeremiah Garcia, done with stencil and collage on canvas. It is after the song American Eulogy, which talks about how the world is "Coming to an end". Or, at least, that's how the media is making it seem.
I really love how the artist captures the real, true, meaning of the song. It really gives me an image to put to the lyrics. The emotions I get from this piece are so strong, and overwhelming. I think the angle of it really gives it the Panicky feeling that the artist was wanting. It's like we're seeing it from the persons point of view, watching along with him as the world falls apart.

Artist evaluation

Monet is, one of the Fathers of Impressionism, is an amazing artist. The three works below are some of his least known works, but some of his best, in my opinion. I love the short brushstrokes, and bright eye-popping colors. What makes the distinguishable from other impressionistic works, is his use of color. Monet is one of the impressionists who completely did away with black from his pallet. He also went out at different times a day,  so he could capture what his subject looked in certain lights, and certain seasons. That is one of the things he is most well-known for, painting one subject matter dozens of times . The differences between these three pictures are subtle, but noticeable, as with the colors of certain times a day. The first one was more than likely painted early in the morning, the second later in the afternoon, and the third midday. This shows Monets' love of painting at different times a day.

Art Career:Photography

Photography is a career I’d be really interested to get involved with. It’s a very interesting medium, because of all of the things, places, and people you can take pictures of, and all of the interesting things you can do with the pictures afterwards, like special affects and whatnot, just because of the technology we have these days.
http://blogs.photopreneur.com/ This blog is a blog of a Californian college, and I found it really cool to see others who are interested in the same line of work as me. For training in photography, you don’t really need much. Most photographers go to a liberal arts college, or a community college that offers photography courses. The median salary for photographers in the US is around $53, 700, a year. Some careers for photographers include: Studio photography, Photo Journalism, Scientific photography, Industrial photography, food photography, sports photography, and Fine Arts photography. I would most like to be a photographer that travels. I want to see the world, and if I can get beautiful artwork out of that, that would be amazing!

Future life.

Life after high school. It's really scary to think about. I mean. I don't know why or anything. It just is. I want to be  a cop. I've looked up a lot of different schools, and stuff, and my top choices are The University of Florida, Souther Illinois University, and the University of Alaska. Majoring in Criminal Justice. That way, if I decide I do not want to be a cop, I have a lot of places to fall back on. If I don't make it as a cop, I would love to be a criminal investigator. For this, I'll need a career in Criminal Sciences. To get this job, I would, obviously, need to graduate high school with at least a b average in science. Let's hope I can do it!!

My favorite art

Van Gogh's Starry Night, is a painting known all over the world for it's beautiful swirling sky, and it's dark menacing feel. The lines in this painting are very short and choppy in some places like on the rooftops to the village houses, but smooth and flowing in others, like in the sky. Can you see the beautiful strokes of the brush, as Van Gogh ran his hand across the canvas, the direction of his brush creating each stroke, smoothly as if he were born to paint. Which he probably ways. Van Gogh used a lot of blues, and Greens and purples in his painting, the colors known as the cool colors, and they give off a deep, almost scary feel.
